The smoker is the person who consumes tobacco. More than 1.1 billion smokers across the planet consume 5,500 billion cigarettes a year. The number of smokers started developing at the beginning of the 20th century with the arrival of the cigarette; prior to that tobacco was snorted or chewed. The smoker can be a consumer of cigarettes, cigars or pipes. By the very harmful nature of tobacco and the agents linked to it, the smoker can become addicted to it and fall victim to numerous pathological problems such as cancers, cardiovascular accidents or chronic bronchitis.
The European HELP programme for fighting against tobacco can bring you a lot of information and support for giving up smoking.
